You do have options as a student on Academic Suspension:
Option #1 - Appeal Your Suspension
According to page 61 of the Undergraduate Catalog, the Suspension Appeal process is provided for students who can provide valid documentation of extenuating circumstances which contributed to their suspension. Only students with extenuating circumstances (death in family, medical complications or chronic conditions, personal or family emergency, overwhelming work schedules, dorm mate conflict, relationship conflict or other uncontrollable circumstances) will be accepted for review by the Appeals Committee. In addition, students must provide a plan for how the extraordinary event(s) have been resolved and provide proof to the Appeals Committee that further difficulties will not occur if the student is allowed to continue coursework in the next semester.
NOTE: Students without documentation will not be able to appeal their suspension.
Decisions by the appeals committee are final.

Option #2 - Accept Your Suspension
It may be to your advantage to sit out your academic suspension period. See if you fall into one of these examples:
Switching Majors
You were a science major and now want to switch to an English major. Most of your failed courses are those you will not need in your new major. If you sit out for three semesters, you can return to ODU and use the ARC policy to clean up your GPA.
Unresolved Personal Issues
You have been dealing with a personal issue that has been a distraction from your studies. This issue may be an illness, family or relationship matter. By taking the separation, you can attend to the situation and be ready to focus on school when you return. You may also want to consult Student Ombudsperson Services at 757-683-3442.
