Dr. Charles E. Wilson, Jr.

Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies & Dean of University College

Dr. Charles E. Wilson, Jr., came to Old Dominion University in 1991 after teaching at Christopher Newport University.  He earned a B.A. from West Georgia College, an M.A. from North Carolina State University, and a Ph.D. in American Literature from the University of Georgia.  The author of three books and numerous articles, he currently serves as professor of English and is designated a University Professor.  In July of 2006, Dr. Wilson was appointed as Interim Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies and Dean of University College.

Dr. Wilson has earned numerous accolades for his excellence in teaching including the University's A. Rufus Tonelson Faculty award and the Robert L. Stern Award for Excellence in Teaching from the College of Arts and Letters.  In 2004, he became Old Dominion's 15th faculty member to receive the Virginia Outstanding Faculty Award from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.
