OF SPECIAL INTEREST

HONORS COLLEGE: Students accepted into Old Dominion University's Honors College are invited to attend the Honors Freshman Orientation on June 19.  This orientation date is designated for Honors College students only.  For more information about Honors College, call 757-683-4865 or e-mail hcollege@odu.edu.  Honors College students who are unable to attend the June 19 Honors Freshman PREVIEW are welcome to attend any date with seats available. Assistance by Honors College staff will be available at whatever date you select.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS:  New undergraduate international students are required to attend two separate orientation programs sponsored by The Office of Intercultural Relations and PREVIEW. This requirement applies to both freshman and transfer international students. In addition, International Student and Scholar Services coordinates the check-in process for you.

International students needing to register for required English language courses must do so before attending an orientation program. International students (freshmen and transfers) who do not pass the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) are also required to attend the final Freshman PREVIEW in late August. For more information on the required English Language Courses, contact the English Language Center at 757-683-4424 or elc@odu.edu

New international students with 24 or more transfer credit hours who have fulfilled the TOEFL requirements and already live in the United States may attend Transfer PREVIEW.

DISTANCE LEARNING/TELETECHNET: The University's Office of Distance Learning extends the value of a regionally-accredited university education through a variety of distance learning options, including TELETECHNET, a satellite delivery network. Distance Learners are encouraged to attend Student Orientation at the distant site, which is broadcast from Norfolk several days prior to the fall term. Following the broadcasted portion, sites typically offer their own Orientation so that students can become familiar with site-specific policies and procedures. Distance Learning/TELETECHNET students do not attend PREVIEW on ODU's main campus. For more information about Distance Learning Orientation, click on the Distance Learning Welcome Center, contact their local TELETECHNET Site Director, or call the Office of Distance Learning at 800-968-2638.

DISABILITY SERVICES: If you or your guests need special accommodations, contact the Office of Disability Services at disabilityservices@odu.edu or 757-683-4655 at least two weeks prior to your scheduled PREVIEW date. Wheelchairs are not available for use.
