Lamin Mansaray | Student Spotlight
Lamin Mansaray grew up in Alexandria and entered Old Dominion University in the Fall of 2004. He decided to come to Old Dominion University because he liked the campus and liked seeing so much diversity, and what sealed the deal was that ODU offered the most rewarding financial aid package.
Lamin's first semester here was not as successful as he would have liked. He contributed his difficulty to having too much time to waste. He wasn't involved and was sleeping too much. Talking with Lamin now, it's very hard to imagine. Two semesters later and Lamin was on the dean's list and was very involved. Lamin says that "now there isn't enough time in the day to fit everything in." Lamin has managed to be very active while keeping a very strong GPA. |

Lamin has played flag football and was the captain, he had a radio show called ODU PTI, which is a spin off of an ESPN show, he is a member of the Spirit Bible Study and has been their Public Relations chair, and he has still found time to be the Specials Event chair of SAC for two years. He is very proud of the work he has done with SAC and he has hosted two comedy shows with very good reviews. His other club that he is a member of is called TRUST (To Respect, Unite, Support and Teach (the community). He was a founding member and is now and has been the Vice President. This is a community service club and Lamin says that being a leader on campus he has learned "to take initiative and to delegate responsibility."
Lamin would advise freshman to get involved with something especially something with their major. Lamin feels that for him getting involved gave him the structure he needed to prioritize his time and make the most of his college career. As you can probably guess, Lamin is a Communication major with an emphasis in Mass Media and will minor in Sports Management. He is interested in sports broadcasting and his passion lies with professional football. We have a feeling we will see and hear him on ESPN.
