Student Spotlight
Sasha LeBon | Student Spotlight
Sasha Lebon grew up in Norfolk and attended Granby High School. Her mother, Daphne Ting, graduated from Old Dominion University's nursing program and Sasha grew up also wanting to go to ODU.
Sasha was very excited to attend ODU, but had some transitional issues her first semester. Sasha contributes her academic difficulty to not knowing her major and "first year stress." One of her greatest accomplishments is raising her GPA and she credits her turn around to time management, attending an academic success group, talking with her professors and finding friends to form study groups with. Sasha said that was a wake up call and that is when she made school and studying a priority. Her advice to any incoming freshman is to "make sure you go to class and that you have a planner and use it!"
Sasha definitely uses her planner. Her grades remain in good standing while she takes care of her two year old daughter, Selena Alexandria, and she writes daily letters to her fiancé who is in the Air Force. She also makes time for fun and is a member of the Golf Club here at ODU. Sasha says that she loves the environment at ODU. It is very easy to make friends and everyone has so much school spirit. The professors are helpful and there is "always something going on- either movies, or games, or meetings of some sort. It is hard not to get involved."
She is planning to major in Psychology and minor in Criminal Justice and plans to attend graduate school in criminal psychology. |
